can you tell i'm a foreigner?

Finally, after being cooped up in orientation seminars for the past 2 days, today was the day when we finally had the chance to get out and explore a little bit. And what better way to learn your way around a city than to tell you to be at an interview by a certain time and find your way there on your own, right? So, map in hand - just like Joey Tribbiani trying to find his way around London - I set about figuring my way around.

(the view from my train on my commute to work !!!!!)

After getting a little turned around and walking a few blocks in the wrong direction a few times, I found my way to a little slice of English major heaven. My internship is with a book publishing company; and, surrounded by books in a building dedicated to their publication, I learned more about the company and the more specific tasks of what I'll be doing over the next two months. Basically, I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was so excited.

After returning to the BU campus after getting a little lost twice, swarmed by a hundred middle schoolers on a field trip once, and getting one nasty blister on my right heel, I could sit down for a bit and relax (but not for too long, of course).

Within the hour we were off again, walking down to Darling Harbor to board a beautiful sunset cruise around the harbor.

I have only one word: unreal.

If I thought my commute to work (which includes a train ride over the Sydney Harbor Bridge) was beautiful, then this was a whole new level of breathtaking.

Simply put: this was something I could get very used to.

And just before pulling into the dock, we got the chance to watch the beginnings of Vivid Sydney (the light show Sydney puts on) from the harbor, allowing for spectacular pictures, videos, and just view in general.

So, after a long, long day of getting lost, some beautiful touristy attractions, and getting made fun of for my accent, I think it's high time I curled up into bed and got some well deserved sleep, because tomorrow is yet another packed day. Peace and blessings.

xoxo
Katie
