better late than never
Now, I know it has been quite some time since I arrived in
London, meaning that it’s been a real long while since I’ve posted any blog
posts.
But during the past month and a half, I have started classes
at Queen Mary University, strolled along the banks of the Thames, made myself
feel right at home on the streets of London, traveled to Switzerland to eat
enough chocolate to give me a hardcore
sugar rush, explored countless markets, figured out the public transportation, eaten
some bomb street food, stroke the Globe Theater and nerded out like the true English
nerd that I am, gave directions to lost tourists like a true local, had many
late night adventures, explored the Tower of London, traveled to Paris for Valentine’s
Day weekend, consumed many macaroons, drank a concerning amount of coffee and
basically, I’ve been having the time of my life.
In short, I’ve been a little bit busy living life abroad,
and loving each and every second of it.
Last weekend, I spent Valentine’s Day in Paris with Mike to
celebrate the corniest holiday of them all as well as our one year anniversary
(cheesy right?). We spent a good amount of time eating baguettes and cheese and
drinking cups of hot wine while strolling along the Seine River, gazing at
Notre Dame and its flying buttresses (lol) and strolling through the grounds at
the Palace of Versailles.
We took a mirror selfie in the Hall of Mirrors at
Versailles,
looked windblown and horrendous at the top of the Eiffel Tower,
ate
2 boxes of macaroons in a corner at McDonalds (so good) got rained on the
entire weekend and jumped in countless puddles, and touched lots of exhibits at
the Louvre that you definitely weren’t supposed to touch.
We put a lock on the
love lock bridge near Notre Dame and threw the keys in the Seine River,
we saw
the house that Van Gogh lived in with his brother,
and ate a really good burger
for dinner one night that had egg and hash browns on it that I still find myself
dreaming about (yes it really was that good).
While Switzerland was beautiful,
the lakes at Interlaken
really are all they’re cracked up to be, their chocolate was delicious and the
Alps were breathtakingly beautiful (both from the ground and in the air), my
weekend spent in Paris with Mike was by far my favorite one yet, and I look
forward to my next adventure.
Next stop, Prague!
Cheers,
Katie
