I only have one weekend in Sydney left (://////) which meant I had to make the most of every minute and sleep as little as possible.
Friday was my last day of work, which meant surpressing the tears for 8.5 hours and bonding with my bosses over stellar South Indian food and our love of books.

*Since I work for a booked publishing company which deals mainly with lifestyle books and cookbooks,
I did my best to find some food related cards.
These were the only ones not covered in cakes with 'happy birthday' sprawled across the front,
but they're pretty delightful so no complaints here.* |
After leaving work for the last time, I hurried home for a lovely homecooked rooftop dinner with friends before leaving for a long night out.
The Sydney Opera House was putting on a production called Ghost Stories, and we thought it'd b a fantastic idea to scare the pants off ourselves for an hour and a half. The general plot and ending of Ghost Stories is a massive secret, and can't be found anywhere on the internet (so don't even bother trying to look it up) but it was a fantastic show with phenomenal acting. Two thumbs up.
After a wonderful night in the Opera House, we took the train back to our dorm, and a little while late went out to celebrate our last Friday night in the city.
Saturday morning began at a painfully early 6:30am after a pitiful 3 hours of sleep. It was all in the name of a donation yoga class at a place called 'Barefoot Yoga' (which was totally worth the early wakeup and sleep deprivation btw). After a wonderful hour and a half session of meditation, we headed to the Paddington markets. After wandering around the various stalls and drinking a delicious cup of Campos coffee, we headed down to the Rocks market and wandered around the stalls before grabbing a quick bite to eat and a ferry over to Manly beach where we would spend our afternoon lounging on the beach and soaking up the sun.

After a long day, we grabbed a ferry back to the CBD (aka: the central business district - aka: the location in Sydney of the Opera House, the Harbor Bridge and my home for the past 2 months) and headed down to Paddy's markets for some last minute souvenir shopping.
Hunger hit us full force after we were finished shopping, so we wandered towards Surry Hills to get pho at a place called The Naughty Chef (yep the name made me giggle, AND their pho was fantastic which means I give them a 10/10) and then dessert consisted of gelato from Gelato Messina, a gelato shop which has been voted the best gelato in Sydney (and I agree, hands down). I ordered a scoop of 'Pound My Cherry Jam With Your Pistachio' and had to stifle a chuckle when I got to the counter to order it, but oh my goodness it was absolutely fantastic.
 |
| *'Pound My Cherry Jam With Your Pistachio' gelato is the beautiful one down in front on the left. If one could marry gelato, I would totally be all over that because holy cannoli it was delicious.* |
With my bloodstream full of sugar and a smile on my face, I can honestly say that Sydney is one of my favorite places to ever have been blessed to live, and I'm going to have a really tough time leaving in a disgustingly short number of days.
Cheers
Katie
